PPAI-Family Farm School participated in a Codespa-PinoyME event

29 May 2009. PPAI participated in “Building Capacities of Growth-oriented Micro-entrepreneurs: a Business Development Services (BDS)” Conference.  It was held on May 21-22, 2009 at PHINMA Training Center, Kabangaan Road, Iruhin West, Tagaytay City.  Participants came from leading Micro-Finance Institutions (MFI), the academe, NGOs, business sector, and donor groups (both local and foreign). Coming from several parts of the country, they travelled to Manila and were transported by chartered buses to Tagaytay City. It was organized by Fundación CODESPA, in collaboration with the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID), and PinoyME consortium.

Graduation Rites of Batch 2009 in Balete and Dagatan FFS

8 May 2009.  A daughter of a backyard swine raiser and a carpenter, led the ten (10) graduates of Balete Family Farm School for girls (BFFS).  The graduation ceremonies was held at BFFS campus on April 15, 2009.  One of BFFS’ alumni, Mrs. Sheila Vergara-Rodrigo, who is now a manager of McDonald’s Tanauan City branch, gave the graduates an inspirational talk and tips on how to survive the hardships of college life and professional career.  She underscored the benefits of the communication and study skills she gained from BFFS.

Amici, An Italian Restaurant, Is Serving Tawilis-topped Pizza

4 November 2008Amici: Pizza, Pasta, Gelato, an Italian restaurant, is serving a Tawilis-topped pizza entitled Sardinella Marinara (served with pickled veggies, olives and capers).   The Tawilis is supplied by Balete Family Farm School for girls, Balete, Batangas.  The new pizza flavor is one of the new offerings the restaurant launched last September.

Tawilis in Corn Oil Produced By Balete Family Farm School for Girls

7 October 2008.  Balete Family Farm School for Girls (BFFS) is producing bottled "Tawilis in Corn Oil".  It comes in two varieties:  Regular and Hot-and-Spicy. 

The school is situated in Balete, Batangas, a town along the shore of Taal Lake.  Among the livelihood activities of Balete residents is fishing at Taal Lake, where the main catch is "Tawilis" (scientific name: Sardinella tawilis).

A New Family Farm School in Cebu

 25 September 2007. The Holy Rosary Family Farm School, Inc. in Barangay Tanibag, Pinamungahan, Cebu is seriously looking at opening the newest FFS in the Philippines this coming school year 2008 - 2009.

The association met on September 13 and 14 to plan their actions that would ensure the opening of the school next school year. They identified five (5) major challenges they need to overcome: 1) building construction, 2) government permit to operate from the Department of Education, 3) training of tutors, 4) promoting the new school concept among the local people and 5) forming of committees to handle the above-mentioned concerns. The meeting was attended by twenty-eight (28) members of the association and two (2) collaborators. Also present during the activity was Tanibag barangay chairman.

A New Family Farm School in Calabanga

30 August 2007.  A new Family Farm School is forming in Calabanga, Camarines Sur. 
 
The National Pedagogical Team (NPT) visited Calabanga on August 24, 2007 and had a meeting with the officers of Nuestra Senora dela Salud Family Rural School, Inc. on the possibility of opening a FFS next school year (SY 2008 - 2009). Present during the said meeting were the President, Vice President and two officers of the association.

Paksa Planning with Parents Held

01 July 2007.  An important activity in the Family Farm School is the PAKSA planning. Together with the parents of the students, the team of tutors prepare the formation plan for the coming school year. The activity highlights the participation of the parents in the pedagogical aspect of the Family Farm School. It is in the paksa planning that the parents contribute their share in the formative activities of the school.

Second Family Farm School Management Council Seminar Held

25 June 2007.  Representatives of the Management Council of each of the Family Farm Associations in the Philippines convened at Living the Gospel Renewal Center, Banilad, Cebu City on June 18 - 22, 2007 to hold the Second FFS Management Councils' Seminar. The activity was a continuation of the first general assembly held last November at Los Banos, Laguna.
